Persuasive Writing Advertisements Examples

July 19th, 2010 admin No comments

Does sex really sell?

I’m writing a persuasive essay on sex in advertising. My opinion is that sex does sell if used right… For example, implying sex without throwing it in a consumer’s face works better than just a naked guy/girl holding the product because too much sex pulls the mind away from the actual message of the advertisement. My instructor said I need to add more counter-argument to the essay… anyone have any other opinions to share so I can try and prove you wrong? :P

Hearth and home are just naturally more compelling than bath-house and brothel. Funny but even the most pornagraphic and sexual advertisements are not as compelling as one with adoring family around the fireplace. Even singles are shown partying with friends but you seldom see sexual situations. Reason being? Advertisers are trying to reach middle America. The Bible belt is still alive an kicking. The addicted to pornography group are still looking for that old fashioned romance. Strange isn’t it? Most advertisers want all age groups to respect their integrity and their products.

Brilliant Activities for Persuasive Writing provides Key Stage 2 teachers with activities to help pupils to focus on persuasive language and to stimulate persuasive writing. All the activities are compatible with the National Literacy Strategy. Activities range from writing advertisements and job descriptions to looking at two-sided arguments and debates. The book is divided into four sections, one for each year of Key Stage 2. Lesson plans are accompanied by photocopiable texts and worksheets. Most of the activities allow for differentiation by outcome and so may be used with the whole class. Differentiated sheets are included where necessary so that children of lower ability have more guidance or less to do in quantity. Extension activities are given to challenge the more able, and follow-on activities enable teachers to extend the work further.
